My first sports romance but not my last. I’ve been holding myself back on reading sports romance, I assumed it was going to be nerdy girl falls for QB. I also had the version of a stuck up, douchebag athlete who thought way too highly of themselves. How wrong I was and thank goodness because I need the next book. I mean did it help that the QB is wearing MY number? Maybe, yes 🙊
I absolutely loved this book. I wouldn’t say I love football, but definitely a sports girlie and will cheer on your team regardless if I know anything about them. Your team is now my team. If you aren’t really into football and are unsure of how the game is played or terms used C.L. gives you a nice glossary to help you out.

We met Maddox Dane, the underdog in the professional football league, no matter how hard he works no one seems to give him a chance. Maybe being traded to Cleveland’s brand new expansion team as their back QB will be until their first ringer QB gets hurt. It’s now up to him to be the leader of the team, but he definitely could use some help.
I never had a snowball’s chance in hell of starting there. I was their third string quarterback, and there wasn’t much hope of ever moving up on the depth cart. I’d accepted that, reminding myself of how lucky I was to even have a spot in the NFL at all.
As the very last player picked in the draft-or what the league and fans so lovingly refer to as Mr. Irrelevant– I almost missed out on the chance altogether
Enter Livvy Grant, the owner of the Renegades daughter. She has been living and breathing football for as long as she can remember. But her dream was to coach the team not be the heir apparent and when it’s Maddox turn to take to the field this may just be her chance.
The cold, hard truth became slowly and painfully apparent. Nobody wanted a coach without on-field experience – especially if that coach was a woman
The relationship that starts to form between these two is beautiful. I do really like it when the friends start to realize that there is no one else for them. The banter and the spicy check list 🥵 a little possessive and protective is always a bonus. Things start to get hot and heavy in chapter 23
Having to hide their relationship from everyone because of the public and the accusations that come with dating the owner’s daughter or dating your dad’s team’s QB.We also get a look into the brand new team’s dynamic, how they work together on and off the field. Also a peek into what running a professional football team.
“Not me, you assholes. Watch the background.” This time, instead of focusing on the one-man bodybuilding exhibition, I bring my attention to the locker area behind him as it all unfolds

I knew Maddox wasn’t like other professional athletes , but this was the cherry on top. He wanted to do better for his team and city and would happily take Livvy’s coaching advice to better himself.

Why is it that men (even the best ones) always seem to question women’s athletic skills? Just because someone doesn’t play at the professional level doesn’t mean they aren’t good or don’t know what they are talking about. I love how Livvy just showed him up. I don’t like that he didn’t take her word, but she knew she could back herself up.

My heart squeezes in my chest. All my life, I’ve had to prove myself more than everyone else.
I feel this. As a woman working in a male industry I have to prove myself all the time. I get undermined because of my gender or age… It’s honestly really annoying because I may not have been doing this current job long but I do know what I am talking about and when the customer tries to goes over my head and the boss says the exact same thing is so infuriating
“I’m… pretty,” she replies sounding completely shocked as if she doesn’t realize she’s a fucking knockout.
It’s interesting how us women (most in my opinion) who do not think they are attractive. That they have been fed lies by outside forces hurts my head. I just had a conversation with my husband the other day about something like this. I thought that my husband didn’t find me attractive, how could one think this? Easy, my head likes to make me feel anxious and doubt everything anyone says to me. He was flabbergasted that I didn’t think I was attractive. It happens when you are always told the opposite.
Because even though I told him not to fall in love with me, I may have forgotten to take my own advice
Soon enough, I’ll shout from the rooftops that I’m in love with Olivia Grant.
