Get Down from the Tower
The retelling of Rapunzel in this book is truly unique, incorporating the Grimm brothers’ fairytale characters in a dark and twisted narrative that adds a spicy element to the story. It was refreshing to see familiar characters from childhood stories take on new roles and personalities, making the tale more intriguing and engaging. The blend of classic fairytale elements with a modern, edgy twist created a captivating reading experience that kept me hooked from beginning to end.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the book, there was a sense that something was lacking in the overall story, although I couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was. Despite this minor feeling, the captivating plot and the mystery surrounding the secrets of Mystica kept me eagerly turning the pages to uncover more about the characters and their intertwined fates. The protagonist, Rapunzel, defied expectations by emerging as a strong and independent character who stood up for herself, showcasing a resilience and determination that added depth to her character.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the story was the unexpected twist involving Zarev, a character reminiscent of the Grimm Reaper, tasked with a mysterious mission in the kingdom of Tressa. The revelation of Zarev’s past and the exploration of his transformation into a Reaper added a layer of complexity to the narrative, shedding light on his motivations and inner struggles. The incorporation of shadows in a unique and compelling way added an element of intrigue and suspense to the story, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as they delved deeper into the world of Mystica.
