💋If you are looking for a new book boyfriend who just so happens to be a cowboy, look no further! Colt Calloway is your man. First cowboy romance was a success, I freaking loved this book. I now want to live on a ranch (already got the smalltown vibes), have cows and horses. I will happily ride a cowboy to save a horse 😏The angst is unreal in this book, holy jesus I was on the edge the entire time.

🍓We meet Blaire Monroe, daughter of a Senator and engaged to the man whose family’s business helps support the Senators campaign. Until she receives a damning email that flips her world over its head – again

Every surface in the elevator was a mirror, and three different women looked back at me. There was the Senator’s daughter in her expensive suit and perfect posture purchased with years of correction. Then the jilted fiance, with anger burning behind her trembling chin and firmly pressed lips where she learned to swallow her voice.

And then there was her. The one with wide eyes and color high in her cheeks, the one who looked like my mother. I wanted to scream at her, beg her to run, to fight, to do anything.

Blaire is definitely one of my new favorite characters, one I can relate to. After fitting into other people’s expectations of her, Blaire finally stands up for herself-to her father, to her fiancé. Breaking that mold could not have been easy (I’ve been there, not fun but worth it). With nowhere else to go Blaire calls the one person who would never turn her away, Grandma June. 

One of the very first things my grandmother taught me was that men ain’t shit.

I absolutely love Grandma June. How could you not. Definitely a small town grandma that goes by June or Miss June, because she’s too young to be a grandma. She’s got some fight in her, so sweet and definitely reminds me of my husband’s boss’s mom. She grew up in a small town on a farm raising cattle and harvesting gain. It’s worried about getting her hands dirty and doesn’t know how to sit still and take a breath. She tells you as it is and doesn’t hold back

“Some people have ugly grandbabies. That’s just the truth of it.” She waved her hand over her shoulder for me to follow her, but she didn’t wait for me as she moved down the steps. “I was fortunate I didn’t. I could never fake it.”

Blaire Monroe

It had been a goddamn decade since I saw her last, but she was still carved into my bones like she’d never left

He reminds me of my husband of how generous he is, caring about those around you and will do anything for the one he loves just to see her smile.

Obsessive, possessive, touch her and I’ll end you oh and a single dad who’s world revolves around his five year old daughter of a firecracker.

🩷Second chance has never really been one of my go to tropes. My thoughts are always “Why go back?” but reading how in love these two have been with each other even after they split up years ago, made me swoon. I love the development of their relationship of them getting back to each other. I also really enjoyed the side characters, the dynamic between the two families and of course the old ladies who know best.

This book helped me heal and move on from a place I didn’t know I was stuck in, always wondering about the what ifs and now I’m not. I always thought what was wrong with me why did they leave, did I really care about them or was I just wondering why not me. Then I realized that I was under the impression that I stilled cared about this person as I kept having weird ass dreams about the two of us still being together after decades. I hated it, thought there was something wrong with me. Until I had one dream where they were a pizza delivery guy and then I read book and out of the blue I was able to write everything that I was going through into a story I am working (very slowly) on, and I feel like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders

“Me too,” Maggie said around her soft laughter. “But then they keep making more cowboys and I keep drinking tequila. It’s exhausting.”

“Love you, Blaire!” Ruby said without stopping.

“Love you, Ruby. Go have the best adventure.” Blaire smiled at her, and I wondered if she realized what she was doing. Did she know how much power she had to fuck everything up?

“You are so fucked,” McCoy said under his breath as he chuckled.
