Enter the brutal and elite world of a war college for dragon riders from USA Today bestselling author Rebecca Yarros.

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.

But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away…because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter—like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.

She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.

Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom’s protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.

Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die

Get Fourth Wing

Let me start off by saying that this book is a must-read for anyone who loves fantasy, romance, and a good amount of spice. It’s a perfect blend of all three, and it had me hooked from the very first page.

Fourth Wing gives off Hogwarts vibes, with its four different quadrants – the Scribes, the Healers, the Infantry, and the Riders. It’s a fascinating world, and the author has done an amazing job of describing it. Each quadrant has its own unique role to play, and together, they make up the backbone of the Basgiath War College. My thoughts are Ravenclaw are obviously Scribs, Hufflepuff as Healers, Gryffindor as infantry and Slytherin as riders.

Now, let’s talk about the characters. Violet is the fierce, determined, and intelligent female lead that we all love to root for. She’s always been considered weak and fragile by those around her, but she proves them all wrong when she becomes a Rider and makes it to Threshing. Her banter with Xaden, the male lead, is one of the highlights of the book. They can’t seem to leave each other alone without making a snarky remark, but there’s also an underlying attraction between them that keeps pulling them together.

he friendships in this book are also one of my favorite aspects. I was constantly waiting for one of the friends to turn on Violet, but that never happened. Rhi, Liam, and Ridoc are the best side characters, and they treat Violet as an equal, despite her being different from them physically. They appreciate her for her knowledge and skills, and I loved seeing their bond grow stronger throughout the book.

And now, let’s talk about Xaden. He’s the perfect book boyfriend – stunningly handsome, fiercely protective, and all-consuming. His lips are to die for, and his shadow daddy persona only adds to his charm. He’s completely consumed by Violet, and I found myself swooning over him throughout the book. But don’t just take my word for it, read the book and see for yourself how gorgeous this man is.

The last 250 pages of the book completely wrecked me. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but all I can say is that the author knows how to tug at your heartstrings. The plot twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn’t predict what was going to happen next.

In conclusion, this book has everything – a strong female lead, swoon-worthy romance, amazing friendships, and a captivating world. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good fantasy romance. But be warned, the last 250 pages will wreck you, so be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster ride. I’ll say it again, this book is a must-read, and I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
