The third installment of the Darkened Skies series, ‘Amid Twisted Chaos’, takes readers on an exhilarating journey as the team finds themselves at a secluded base, far from the dangers of the palace. However, they soon realize that safety comes at a cost, as they are no closer to finding a way to take down the Paragon. With their hands tied and limited options, the team must resort to training and cleaning as a means to pass time. But everything changes when Astrea comes up with a daring plan to get answers and possibly even find a way off the secluded base.
With more questions than answers, the team decides to return to Talmaris, the place they left behind for their safety. They hope that reuniting with the rest of the team will provide them with the much-needed answers and guidance on how to defeat the Paragon. Unfortunately everyone who was left in Talmaris also doesn’t have the answers.
The reunion is an emotional one, with tears of joy and relief flowing freely. As the girls catch up with each other, the readers get to learn more about the newer team members and their personalities. The bond between the girls is heartwarming and adds a layer of depth to the story. It is evident that they have each other’s backs and will do anything to protect one another. Each character has their own unique personality and motivations, which adds depth to the story and makes the reader invested in their journey. The world-building in this book is also impressive. We get a deeper glimpse into the world of Talmaris and its history, as well as the different cultures and magic systems that exist within it.
The relationship between Astrea and Jin also takes center stage. Jin’s unwavering support and understanding towards Astrea is heartwarming, and their chemistry is palpable. He knows her inside out and knows when to give her space and when to be by her side. Their love for each other adds a touch of romance to the otherwise action-packed story.
The plot of this book is fast-paced and full of twists and turns.
